LED street lights are being increasingly employed for illuminating people’s surroundings as these are eco friendly, efficient and require less maintenance. This has been made possible through a wireless mobile network operator equipment that would be contained in a small cell. This cell would be put up on the pole and controlled remotely. LED street light poles used for this purpose are specifically designed and tested, so these can accept this kind of equipment and be compatible with them. Thus these poles would enable availability of this technology to users in new areas where the internet connectivity is not so good. This would ultimately help to enhance wireless data broad coverage in such areas and make it more reliable.
Such an arrangement also enables governments to earn more revenue as they would be charging mobile network operators to allow them to use these poles for internet data transmission. This would also benefit network providers as they would be able to provide better broadband services at new sites and thus boost user experience.
